What kind of skis should I buy ?

On glisshop.com, you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of products we sell. How can you find the skis that will match your level, your style or your budget ?

Several options are available :

1. The advanced search engine : located on each page of each menu, it allows you add criteria to your selection : brand, level, etc. When you select them, only products relevant for you will be displayed.

How to choose the length of your skis ?

The length of your skis is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (carving-versatile-powder-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of skis would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. Will the bindings be mounted and set ?

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748 (see details or use our calculator). 

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

Are the skis ready-to-use ?

The skis you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means they're ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential to keep an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend that you wax them every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair them.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.

Is the equipment guaranteed ?

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts one year, but there are exceptions (some can last longer).

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.
